About the Program
The focus of the carpentry program is to prepare students for entrance into the field of residential construction with a well rounded background in all facets of construction. Students will have classroom and shop instruction, lab work, and on-site experiences.
The program encompasses every aspect of home construction from site preparation to building occupancy. Emphasis will focus on foundations, framing, interior and exterior finishes, blueprint reading and estimating costs.
Students will be exposed to modern construction methods and techniques. Operation of hand and power tools used in construction, related safety and maintenance will be thoroughly addressed. The course will also aim to develop effective employer to employee and worker and client relationships as well as desirable personal work habits.
Admission Requirements
In addition to the general requirements, priority admission is granted to those applicants whose ACT scores show a composite score of 14 or higher, or equivalent ACCUPLACER score.
